MacFawn, Snow, Earn Weekly Honors

America East Release

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The weekly awards for softball handed out by the America East featured two repeat University at Albany athletes.  Brittany MacFawn was named Co-Pitcher of the week alongside Stony Brook’s Allison Curkov, and Elizabeth Snow was named Rookie of the Week.  They shared the award with Stony Brook outfielder Bria Green, who was named Player of the Week for Week 10.

MacFawn was named pitcher of the week for the second time this season, having previously earned the award on April 7.  This week, MacFawn went 3-0 with a 0.39 ERA in 18 innings of work.  She struck out 29 batters, and walked only three, allowing only seven hits in the process.  To cap off her week, as well as her final regular season home game, MacFawn threw a no-hitter in the series finale against UMass-Lowell.  MacFawn has recently become UAlbany’s all-time leader in wins (76) and strikeouts (773).

Snow was named rookie of the week for the third time this season, having previously been named on February 25 and April 14.  Snow batted .400 over the course of the five games UAlbany played last week.  Five of her six hits went for extra-bases, four doubles and one home run.  Snow also recorded five RBIs and scored three runs of her own.

The Danes have five games remaining on their schedule before the America East Tournament begins.  The team will head south to West Point tomorrow for a rematch doubleheader against Army, before flying to Baltimore on Thursday to take on UMBC in a three-game set Friday and Saturday.
