Kathleen Lennon Earns IWLCA Third Team All-America Honors

ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany women’s lacrosse draw control specialist Kathleen Lennon was named an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Third Team All-American, the organization announced on Tuesday morning. The senior was a Northeast All-Region First Team selection, and was one of 48 Division I women’s lacrosse players to receive the honor.

Lennon collected All-Region honors for the second-straight year. The senior draw control specialist finished the season with 82 draws to her credit and totaled 213 for her career. The defender ranks second in UAlbany program history in career draws, and is one of just two Great Danes all-time to win 200 or more. She ranked in the national top-15 all season in draw controls per game, and catapulted as high as 10th with 5.33 draws per game. Lennon was an All-Conference First Team selection for the second consecutive year after leading the league in draws per game. She was named to the Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America Third Team Watch List after earning league Defensive Player of the Week accolades on March 18. The senior also ranked second on the team with 17 caused turnovers this season.

Lennon is the first IWLCA All-American for the Great Danes since 2011. She is the third Great Dane to garner IWLCA All-America honors overall and the fourth awardee in the program’s Division I history.

The All-American honorees will be honored at the IWLCA All-America banquet on Saturday, June 7 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
