UAlbany Women’s Basketball Adds Three to the Roster
ALBANY, N.Y. – Head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson has announced the addition of three players to the UAlbany women’s basketball roster.
The three newcomers include a pair of transfer guards and a freshman frontcourt player to add to a team that won the America East Conference for the third consecutive season, going 28-5 in 2014.
Tiana-Jo Carter – Forward/Center – 6-2 – Naples, Maine – Lake Region
Carter comes to UAlbany as the first player under the Abrahamson-Henderson era from the state of Maine. The 6-2 frontcourt player led Lake Region to a trio of Class B state championship games, securing the title and 21-1 season as a senior. The finalist for Maine Ms. Basketball last season surpassed the 1,000-point mark and averaged a double double in all four seasons, with 18.1 points and 14.9 rebounds a contest as a senior.
Mikayla Fallon – Guard – 5-9 – East Moline, Ill. – Kirkwood C.C./East Moline
Fallon becomes a Great Dane on junior standing from Kirkwood Community College. The DII Second Team All-Region point guard helped the Eagles to a combined 53-12 record and top-15 JUCO ranking in her two years, averaging 8.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in her sophomore year. She scored 1,412 at East Moline High, averaging just 16.9 points, five steals and 3.1 assists a contest.
Bridget Murphy – Guard – 5-9 – Bethlehem, N.Y. – St. Francis (Pa.) University/Bethlehem Central
Murphy returns home to Albany County to suit up for the Great Danes and will wait out the 2014-15 season after playing transferring from St. Francis after one year. She was the reserve point guard for the Red Flash, earning 7.4 points and 3.1 assists per game, earning 11 double-digit point contests. While at Bethlehem Central, she was a four-year letterwinner and earned 1,035 points in her career, earning NYSSWA All-State honors as a senior.
