HTC One X

The HTC One X is one of AT&T’s highest quality Android phones available.  Its combination of advanced hardware, top of the line software, and 4G speeds are sure to keep users satisfied.

The One X has a smooth design with rounded corners and a sturdy construction.  The phone is all one piece, with the only removable part being a micro SIM card slot on the top of the phone.  While this improves the phone’s build, it makes it so that you can’t swap out your battery if it dies or if it begins to not hold its charge.  The left side of the phone has a micro USB port and the right side has the volume rocker, both of which are designed to protrude as little as possible from the phone in order to complement its sleek edges.  On top, you have the lock/unlock button and headphone jack which follow the same idea.  The base of the screen has three buttons for back, home, and multi-tasking.  The latter brings up screens of recently used apps and pages allowing you to switch back and forth quickly.  All of these buttons are touch sensitive.

The One X runs on Android’s latest operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich, which is complimented by HTC’s own OS, Sense 4.  HTC’s Sense is slimmed down compared to earlier versions and meshes much better with Android, cutting out a lot of their useless features that did little to improve the usability of the phone itself.  On the hardware side, the phone is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor with 1 GB of RAM.  These do a great job of keeping apps running seamlessly and loading web pages fast, even when juggling more than one task at once.  HTC also incorporates Beats Audio into the phone across all applications, which helps to produce better audio quality every where on the phone.  Unfortunately there’s not much room for music and movies with the One X’s 16 GB of internal memory with no SD card slot for expansion.  You can however get an extra 25 GB online storage free for 2 years with HTC’s Dropbox.

The One X also has a new improved camera interface.  The camera program itself starts extremely fast, helping you to catch those unanticipated photo opportunities that present themselves.  They also have added several new options like panorama shots and fun visual effects and filters that you can apply to your photos before or after taking them.  The camera itself is 8 MP and the photos that it takes are vibrant and clear.  It also records in 1080p and allows you to capture pictures while recording, without having to stop your video.

With the One X, you don’t have to worry too much about the phone not making it through the day.  Average use can get you through around 10 hours with no problem.  4G LTE speeds also work great on the phone and help it to keep up with user’s busy lifestyles.  It would have been nice to see the phone come with a quad core processor like other countries’ variants of the phone has, but fortunately I never had an issue with speed and average smartphone users would probably get minimal benefit and have to deal with a lower battery life.
