Men’s Soccer Names 2013 Captains

ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany men’s soccer head coach Trevor Gorman announced Monday that seniors Christoffer Nisser and Thomas Manz, along with junior Dominic McGarr will serve as captains for the Great Danes in 2013.

“We feel Chris, Tom, and Dom will do a great job leading this year’s squad,” said Gorman. “All three work hard to set a positive example and will carry on the tradition of Great Dane captains well.”

Manz, McGarr and Nisser will combine for a very experienced back line. McGarr returns to the captain’s post for his junior season. The two-time captain and Manz have combined for 73 starts in their careers on defense for the Great Danes. Nisser, a three-year starter for UAlbany, currently ranks second in the last decade in career minutes played with 4,556. He has started all 52 games of his career and played all but 10 minutes of the 2012 season.

The Great Danes have begun preseason camp and will play at Marist in their first exhibition game on August 24. UAlbany will then travel to Northridge, Calif., for the Ryan Rossi Memorial Tournament to kick off the 2013 season.
