SEASON STATS

ALBANY, N.Y.- The University at Albany field hockey team (6-0) will face Lafayette (2-3) on Friday at 7:00 p.m., and Lehigh (2-4) at 1:00 p.m., on Sunday for the team’s first road games since August.

The Great Danes are in the midst of their best start under Phil Sykes. UAlbany is one of six remaining undefeated squads in the nation.

Forward Daphne Voormolen moved up the career record board on Wednesday after a 6-0 defeat of Siena. The senior scored two goals for a total of 38 goals in her career to rank third all-time and first among four-year Division I players in goals scored. Voormolen needs four more goals to rank second all-time. Fellow senior captain Corrine McConville is tied for third all-time with 37 goals in her career.

Freshman Paula Heuser and sophomore Liza Morgan lead all UAlbany scorers with six goals apiece. Heuser, Morgan and Voormolen have all racked up 10 points or more in the first six games.

Freshman Maxi Primus is a perfect 6-0 in the cage for the Great Danes, posting the best goals against average in the nation at 0.64. She also has four shutouts to her credit.

To date the Great Danes have out-scored their opponents 29-3, out-shot them 129-25 and taken a 58-14 penalty corner advantage.

SCOUTING LAFAYETTE

UAlbany is 3-1 all-time against the Leopards, most recently losing 2-1 in double overtime last season. Lafayette returns 10 letterwinners and six starters from last year’s NCAA first round squad. The 2012 Leopards went 5-0 in the Patriot League and 17-3 overall.

Lafayette welcomes a new head coach in Jennifer Stone. The 2004 graduate of Lafayette has led the Leopards to a 2-3 start. The Leopards were shut out by then-No. 13 Iowa 3-0 in their home opener and most recently lost 4-0 to No. 4 UConn on Sept. 15. The Leopards have compiled a challenging non-conference schedule, including seven teams who are ranked in the latest NFHCA poll.

SCOUTING LEHIGH

Lehigh recently shutout Towson 1-0 and Georgetown 4-0 before dropping a 4-2 decision against Monmouth on Sunday. Marissa Glatt leads all Mountain Hawks scorers with four goals thus far.
