Lane Named Co-Performer Of The Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second time this season, University at Albany senior Brittney Lane was named America East Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, for the week ending September 22.  She shares the honor this week with University of New Hampshire’s Chelsey Serrano.  The award is Lane’s second in as many races this season.

Lane paced the UAlbany women’s cross country team to an overall victory in Iona’s Br. Doyle Meet of Champions this past weekend, earning a fourth place individual finish.  She covered the 6k course at the renowned Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx in 22:44.33.  The field consisted of 207 athletes from 20 teams, including Northeast regionally ranked Iona, Yale, and Brown.  The UAlbany women now have head-to-head victories over four Northeast ranked opponents, and have broken into the rankings themselves at 15.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will travel to Lehigh’s Paul Short Invitational on October 5.  Later in the season, Van Cortlandt Park will host the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.
