Jonathan Interiano Named America East Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week
CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – Jonathan Interiano’s double overtime game-winning goal against New Hampshire on Saturday night earned him America East Rookie of the Week honors when the conference announced awards on Monday.
The freshman forward scored his first career goal in dramatic fashion at Bob Ford Field on Saturday night, clinching a 2-1 double-overtime win against the Wildcats for crucial points in the conference standings.
This is the second week in a row that UAlbany has earned league rookie of the week honors. Freshman Leonardo Rodrigues was named America East Rookie of the Week last week after scoring the game-winner in a 3-1 win against UMass Lowell in his first career appearance.
The Great Danes return to action on Tuesday against Hartwick at 7 p.m., and face Hartford in their final regular season home game on Saturday, Nov. 2.
