UAlbany Women’s Basketball Elects 2013-14 Team Captains

ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany women’s basketball team has elected its team captains for the 2013-14 season, choosing Sarah Royals, Margarita Rosario and Shereesha Richards to lead the squad this year.

All three players were unanimous choices by the players to be team captains.

Royals, the team’s lone returning starter from last season, serves as the primary point guard.  The junior floor general led the team in assists with 115, averaging 4.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Richards was the conference’s Co-Rookie of the Year last season and was named to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team for this year.  The versatile sophomore scored 10.2 points and 5.9 boards a game, totaling 65 steals.

Rosario played in all 31 games last season, primarily as a key reserve.  The junior guard finished the 2012-13 season with 68 points, 63 assists and 50 rebounds.

The captains will lead the team against arch-rival Siena on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Times Union Center.
