College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25
ALBANY, N.Y. – With a 5-0 start to the season, the UAlbany women’s basketball team has risen to number nine in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll, joining the top-10 for the first time during the regular season.
This is the first time that the Great Danes are in the top-10 while the season is going on. After last year’s run to the NCAA Tournament, UAlbany finished in the top-10 at the conclusion of the season. The Great Danes also retain a first-place vote.
At the start of the year, UAlbany started at #22 in the mid-major poll. Since then, UAlbany has made jumps to #17, #15 and now #9.
The team is coming off victories over Cal State Fullerton and Delaware State at home this week. So far this season, the Great Danes have defeated all opponents by double digits, standing 36th in D-I in scoring margin at +18.2.
UAlbany received 503 points in the poll to earn a ninth-place ranking, once again being the lone America East team in the top-25. Maine got 15 points, while Stony Brook and Hartford got two and one respectively.
Gonzaga remains at #1 in the poll, getting 27 first-place votes and 748 points. Chattanooga is now #2 with 685 points. Defeated foe Marist stands at #19, while future opponent Quinnipiac is at #24.
UAlbany will next face Providence in Rhode Island on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
