UAlbany Alum John Carroll to Serve as Assistant Coach at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Former Great Dane goalkeeper John Carroll has been named an assistant men’s lacrosse coach for the College of the Holy Cross, the school announced Tuesday.

Carroll, a graduate in 2012 in history, played four years for the Great Danes, combining to play 46 games with 31 starts in his career.  He had a 48.1% save percentage in his career, including starting all 16 games as a sophomore.  That season he earned a 51.4% save percentage with 185 saved shots, leading UAlbany to the America East championship final and earning a place on the All-Tournament Team.  His year was highlighted with a 19-save game against UMass, including 14 in the first half.

“I am excited to bring John Carroll into the Holy Cross men’s lacrosse program,” said Holy Cross head coach John Morrissey in the school’s press release. “He is a very knowledgeable young coach who will help mentor our three young goaltenders. John is also very well connected in the Long Island lacrosse community and continuing to recruit that region is a primary focus for us.”

Carroll is not the first UAlbany alum to coach for Holy Cross.  Last season, former Great Dane keeper Dan McKeon was an assistant coach for the Crusaders.
