America East Names Shereesha Richards Player of the Week Sixth Time

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After watching two of her former teammates see their accomplishments celebrated, Shereesha Richards earns another one of her own.  She has been selected as the America East Player of the Week for the sixth time this season.

Richards surpasses Ebone Henry and Danielle Hutcheson for most America East Player of the Week honors for a UAlbany player with six.  Her seven rookie weekly honors gives her 13 in her young career.

In addition, she ties the single season record for most Player of the Week honors in the America East.  She becomes the fifth player with six America East Player of the Week awards in a single season, and with one more could stand alone at the top.

Richards finished the week with a pair of strong performances, starting with a 24-point night against #2-ranked Duke off 12-20 shooting, adding seven rebounds.  Each mark led all players in that game.  She followed up with her sixth double-double of the season, shooting 7-9 from the field and 7-10 from the line to finish with 21 points and 14 rebounds in a home win against Colgate.

The sophomore forward continues to lead the league in three categories: points per game at 22.9, rebounds a contest at 10.5 and field goal percentage at 66.5%.

After a break for the holidays, the Great Danes will next play on Wednesday, January 1st at Hofstra at 2 p.m.
