BOSTON – In a New York versus Boston matchup, UAlbany finishes nonconference play on Saturday, taking on Northeastern on the road at the Cabot Center at 2 p.m.

Current America East member UAlbany is coming off a narrow 60-56 defeat at Hofstra, entering Saturday’s contest at 9-3 overall.  Former America East school and current Colonial Athletic Association team Northeastern will play for the first time in 2014, coming in a 6-6 after a pair of losses to Tulane and Northwestern in New Orleans.

Tickets for game at the Cabot Center are five dollars for adults and three dollars for youths.

These two teams will meet up for the first time since 2005 when they were conference rivals.  The series is tied 4-4, with UAlbany taking the last three, including 78-68 on February 26, 2005.

Shereesha Richards leads the conference with 22.9 points and 10.9 rebounds a game, shooting a conference-best 65.3% from the field and earning seven double-doubles this season.  Sarah Royals is averaging 12.3 points a contest to stand seventh in the America East.  Megan Craig, shooting over 54%, is 16th in the conference at 9.7 points a contest.

Northeastern, a former founding member of the America East that left for the CAA in 2005, is coming off its first winning season since the 1998-99 season, going 17-13 last year.  The Huskies are playing their first home game since December 15th, an 81-55 victory over Maine, their second win in as many chances against America East opponents this year, starting with a win over UNH.  The team sports a pair of Preseason All-Conference players, including the team’s only senior, Jewel Tunstull, a 6-foot-3 senior who averages 14.6 points and 9.5 rebounds a contest.  The squad’s leading scorer, junior guard A’lece Mark, averages 18.7 points a game, but has not played the team’s last five games.  The main threat from long range is sophomore guard Tiffany Montagne, who shoot 40% from three, averaging 10.5 points a game.
