Shereesha Richards Gets America East Co-Player of the Week for Ninth League Honor
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the ninth time this season and third week in a row, Shereesha Richards has earned a conference weekly honor, being named America East Co-Player of the Week.
Along with Megan Craig’s Player of the Week honor earlier this month, UAlbany has earned an America East Player/Co-Player of the Week honor 10 out of 12 possible weeks. Richards’s nine weekly honors are the most in a season for an America East player and the most all-time in UAlbany history.
The sophomore forward started the week with her 12th double-double of the year against Binghamton, standing alone for most double-doubles in a season for a UAlbany player. Including 15 second half points, Richards finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds in the road victory.
The next Thursday, she led UAlbany in a battle for first against UNH, helping the Great Danes to victory with 25 points and six rebounds.
Along with leading the conference in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage, she is the runaway leader in double-doubles with 12, with nine players sharing second place in that category with three.
Richards shared Co-Player of the Week honors with Stony Brook’s Chikilra Goodman, who tallied 27 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in a pair of road wins over Vermont and Maine.
Richards and the Great Danes will take on UMBC tomorrow at SEFCU Arena at 7 p.m. Then on Thursday, Richards and Goodman will face-off with UAlbany plays at Stony Brook at 7 p.m.
