Men’s Basketball Guard Peter Hooley Named to Academic All-District First Team

GREENWOOD, IND. – University at Albany men’s basketball shooting guard Peter Hooley was named to the Capital One NCAA Division I Academic All-District I First Team, as selected by CoSIDA on Thursday.
The sophomore leads UAlbany in scoring with 14.7 points per game, and ranks second in the America East in league-only scoring with 15.6 points per game. Hooley is also nationally ranked 23rd in free throw percentage at 88.1%. He is one of just five players in NCAA Division I to shoot 87% or better from the line in 100 or more attempts. Hooley was named the America East Player of the Week on Dec. 2 after scoring 24 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the three-point arc.
In the classroom, Hooley is a double major in journalism and psychology. After redshirting as a true freshman, Hooley boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.51 over three years.
The All-District teams are selected by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America, after student-athletes are nominated by their respective institutions. Student-athletes that receive All-District accolades are re-submitted for consideration for the Academic All-America team. This is the fourth consecutive year that a member of the UAlbany men’s basketball team has been selected to the All-District team. Previous honorees include Jacob Iati (2012-13) and Logan Aronhalt (2011-12 & 2010-11).
