UAlbany WBB Sports the Longest Conference Winning Streak in Division I

ALBANY, N.Y. – With 32-consecutive wins in America East play, the University at Albany currently has the longest-conference winning streak in Division I women’s basketball.

The streak includes conference regular season games.  Having won all nine games in the America East so far this season and going undefeated in league play last year, the Great Danes last fell in a regular season game on January 28, 2012 in a 65-57 home defeat to Hartford.  Since then, the Great Danes have won all 32 America East games.

UAlbany became the leader in DI after Florida Gulf Coast University, which had won 44-straight games in the Atlantic Sun Conference, fell to Northern Kentucky on Saturday.

The Great Danes share the longest-winning streak in conference play with Hampton University, which has won 32 consecutive games in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference as of Monday.

In addition, UAlbany has won 21-consecutive America East games on the road, with the last defeat away from SEFCU Arena coming on February 23rd, 2011 with a 62-55 loss to UMBC.

UAlbany will look to defend its league-winning streak on Tuesday, hosting UMass Lowell on Tuesday, February 4th at 7 p.m. at the SEFCU Arena.
