UAlbany WBB Hosts Hartford for Pink Out Game on Friday

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Great Danes will look to Pink Out Hartford on Friday, hosting the Hawks for a 7 p.m. game at SEFCU on February 7th on ESPN3.  This is an exact rematch of the 2013 America East title game.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink to promote breast cancer awareness.  The first 250 fans to the gate, which opens at 6 p.m., will get pink shirts, with the first 100 fans that enter wearing pink will get a slice of pizza courtesy of DC’s Pizza.  Tickets for the game are $ 10 for chairback seats, $ 5 for reserved adult seating and $ 2 for kids and seniors.  Faculty and staff may get a ticket free with a ticket purchase, and students enter free with a university ID.

UAlbany is riding an 11-game winning streak, coming off a dominant 93-47 victory over UMass Lowell on Tuesday, to come into Friday undefeated in America East play at 10-0 and 20-3 overall.  Hartford has won its last five games, last playing on February 2 with a 61-48 home victory over Stony Brook, standing at 6-3 in-conference and 9-13 overall.

Though Hartford leads the overall series 20-11, UAlbany has taken the last five contests.  Earlier this season, UAlbany defeated Hartford 69-52 on the road on January 12th.

UAlbany, which has won a DI-best 33-consecutive conference games, is led by Shereesha Richards, who is averaging 21.9 points a game and is one double digit-point game away from tying the UAlbany consecutive double digit-point games record held by Rainny Lesane, who had 24-straight in the 1983-84 season.  Megan Craig has had three 17+ point games in a row, coming in averaging 11.7 points a contest.  Sarah Royals and Margarita Rosario are one and two in the conference in assists per contest at 4.7 and 4.5 respectively.

With the surge of five consecutive America East victories, the second-longest current winning streak in the league only to UAlbany, Hartford sits in fourth place in the conference.  The team sports ten different players that have had at least four starts this season, led by junior forward Cherelle Moore, who averages a team-best 10 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals a game.  A Preseason All-America East player, junior guard Amber Bepko shoots 35.9% from three -point range to get 9.5 points a game, while senior guard Alyssa Englert sports a team-best 61 assists, adding 5.3 points a contest.
