Twenty Football Players Named To CAA All-Academic Team

RICHMOND, Va. – The University at Albany football program had 20 athletes named to the CAA All-Academic team, announced by the conference office Monday.
The 20 student-athletes honored were Nick Beach, Presley Beauvais, Will Fiacchi, Alex Helmer, T.J. Idowu, Nic Ketter, Mat LaDucer, Eric LaPorta, Jonathan Martin, Jake Meek, Neil Morrison, Zach Morton, Marcel Ngachie, Tom O’Riordan, Brian Parker, James Sanchez, Ryan Smith, Zach Troutman, Adam Wierbinski, and Rhakeem Wiggins.
Total, CAA Football honored 137 student-athletes on the 2013 Academic All-Conference team. New Hampshire led all league schools with 21 players on this year’s list. UAlbany ranked second.
To be eligible for the CAA Football Academic All-Conference Team, a player must be a starter or important reserve and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 4.00 scale) for his entire academic career.
Transfers and first-year freshmen are eligible. Voting for the Student-Athlete of the Year award is conducted by CAA Football’s 11 communications contacts, representing one vote per school.
