LAST TIME OUT: The Great Danes come off an 8-2 non-conference loss at Fordham, played on Tuesday at Houlihan Park in the Bronx. It was staff day on the mound, as UAlbany used eight arms in the game. The Danes stayed within one run into the fifth, but Fordham (11-13) scored five unanswered runs in the final frames, including a pair of home runs in the eighth to put the game away. Offensively, senior D.J. Hoagboon’s triple (1-for-4), Craig Lepre’s double (1-for-3), and Brian Bullard’s single (1-for-4) represented the Danes’ three hits in the game. Fordham totaled five hits, led by Tim O’Connor’s 2-for-5 day.
IN CONFERENCE PLAY: UAlbany owns a 2-4 mark in America East play, winning a road series at UMBC, 2-1, on March 15-16 before getting swept by Stony Brook, 3-0, March 22-23. The River Hawks rallied to score all three runs in the top of the ninth inning, as Matt Mottola belted a solo home run and two batters later Jacob O’Keefe knocked a two-run dinger. However, the Blue Devils cut the rally short just in time, logging a strikeout to end the game.
