Audio Technica AT-LP240-USB
If you are a dedicated fans of traditional records, but also want to have the convince of playing your favorite albums on your iPod, then you need the Audio Technica AT-LP240-USB Turntable. With a USB output to connect it directly to your computer, it’s a turntable for the 21st century.
Unfortunately the turntable doesn’t come with a stylus and cartridge so these will need to be bought separately before you can use the turntable. Once you get this out of the way and set them up on the turntable, the only thing left to do is hook it up to your speakers and start listening. It has 3 speeds to play at 33, 45, or 78 rpm.
At first I was skeptical about how the system would sound. After all, this is the way my parents listened to music. It must have gotten better since then, not worse. I soon found out how wrong I was. The sound on the system was very rich and deep. You could easily tell the difference between listening to records and digital music and I was very impressed with the quality.
The USB feature also worked very well and can be used with both Macs and PCs. Audio Technica provides you with a program, Audacity, to help you convert all your vinyls to a variety of different formats so that you can listen to them when you’re not in the comfort of your home. The process was fairly simple and only took a few minutes to get the hang of, although actually recording the vinyls was a time consuming process because you have to play through what you want to record.
With Audio Technica’s turntable you get a new appreciation for “outdated” LPs. In addition to sounding amazing the LP240 also looks stylish and is sure to get some approving comments from guests. The best part is you can convert your pile old records into digital format so that you can listen to them on the go.
