Very rarely am I upset when a device’s life ends. Most items I buy serve their purpose, and then
phase out. My original cell phone was Nokia 3390 and "became" a
BlackBerry Storm. Last night, a very brave First Generation iPod mini ended
it’s elongated life. Originally traded for a Sony Ericsson T300, this iPod was my
first and longest lasting iPod (five years and two months) to be exact. It has
been taken apart multiple times, the battery changed once, as well as the harddrive, and
time to time the case (for a change of color), it lasted through the
times and never let me down.
It provided hours of entertainment on never ending flights, a decent
game of "brick breaker" when my BlackBerry was off doing other things,
and was always glued to my side with the included belt clip. The iPod,
which was named "Mini Blue", died last night after it fell off to the ground. The belt clip and iPod was hit by my hand, fell against
a treadmill and was thrown into a wooden cabinet. Mini Blue" who was already
missing him top and bottom screws, became startled and separated into pieces on the floor.
Blue mini did not die in vain, he will soon be available on eBay to hopefully give another Mini another shot at life.
RIP Mini, you will be missed.
