QuietPoint Headphones ATH-ANC1
By: Audio Technica
Audio Technica’s
ATH-ANC1 QuietPoint headphones offer music and silence lovers alike a
convenient way to get the best of both worlds. The headphones are perfect for
those who want to concentrate on a great music sound without the disturbance of
external noise. As promised, Audio Technica has made a great addition to the
series with the ATH-ANC1, blocking out 85% of outside noise in a compact and
comfortable design to match.
The headband is
equipped with twin, 1.7inch earpieces covered by a thin leather material. It
doesn’t look like much but has surprising comfort as it fits to form around
your ears. The headband itself is comprised of flexible metal with an
additional black plastic for cover. The great thing about these headphones is
their ability to collapse into its self. Don’t be worried the lack of a
somewhat sturdy design is what gives them their compact and portable feature.
They seamlessly collapse to about the length of an adult hand, making storage
in your bag a lot easier. Similar products to these on the market may have
great capabilities similar to these, but lack that compact design. The whole
idea of an MP3 player is their ability to hold thousands of music and media
into a slim and sleek unit. If you decide on a bulky pair of headphones you may
as well walk around with an old Walkman cassette or CD player instead.
The main feature of the
headphones, the active noise-canceling, is controlled by a simple to use
module on the cord connecting it your media device. The module is equipped with
an on/off switch to eliminate the ambient noise, and a clip for your belt, waste
band, etc. The whole unit is powered by an included 1 AAA battery, but similar
to other headphones, you can still listen to your music even after battery
exhaustion. If you don’t care to use or your battery runs out, they can be used
like any other headphone. However, it was evident of the level of rich music
when the noise-cancelling was enabled. There was a fairly big difference as far
as the bass was concerned, and an overall improvement. Honestly, I am always
pessimistic when it comes to combining two opposite ends of the spectrum, sound
and silence. I would otherwise say you may as well invest in a decent pair of
headphones one for music and the other noise-cancelling. But there did not seem
to be much sacrifice on either end, so when it comes to price, these are very
economical. Unfortunately, there still was a little sacrifice. The headphones
required rather high amplitude when the
noise-canceling was enabled. I found myself turning up the volume on my device
to nearly full to seek the power I wanted.
Like
I said, these headphones are very economical and definitely worth the price.
They are relatively new to the market and I expect are going to do well.
