Samsung Galaxy Note
The Samsung Galaxy Note makes an attempt to stand out in the smart phone market by providing users with a huge 5.3 inch screen to browse the internet, watch videos, and play games. This is excellent for media feigns who use their phone as their main digital device, but bigger is not always better.
The design of the Note is similar to other Android phones. Its 8 Megapixel camera takes great pictures and the 1.5 GHz processor gives you lots of power and makes sure everything on the phone runs smoothly and quickly. The Note has 4G capability so you won’t be waiting around for pages to load all the time. The battery life was slightly lacking and if you weren’t careful, the screen would suck it down in no time.
Now, time for the screen. What it does really well is make interacting with the touchscreen a lot easier. Buttons and icons are bigger and there were much fewer missed presses. Reading webpages or e-books on the larger screen was also better than what I’ve experienced. However a larger screen does have a few downsides. The first is that it isn’t as portable as I would like. While it fits in your pocket, how comfortably it does depends on how tight your pants are. The phones slim profile helps with this, but it can only do so much. Another problem I had with the size is the phone was harder, and slightly uncomfortable to use with one hand. This goes for calls as well as trying to type a message and made it inconvenient to try to multitask.
Another thing that was unexpected with the Note was the inclusion of the S Pen, which is basically a stylus for the phone. You can use it to write notes, draw, or interact with the phone. I found it hard to find uses for the S Pen, but what’s good is if you don’t want to use it, it will stash very discreetly inside a slot on the phone, out of sight until you need it.
The Note may not suit everyone’s style, but it does have its strong points. If you’re willing to sacrifice portability for a larger screen you don’t have to squint at, the Note is just what you’re looking for.
