Brittney Lane Named America East Women’s Performer of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University at Albany senior and Greenwich, N.Y. native Brittney Lane was named America East Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week for the week ending September 8 due to her performance at the America East Pre-Conference meet at Binghamton on September 7.

Lane finished the 5k course in first place out of a field of 56 athletes from five America East teams.  Her time of 18:13.4 was the second fastest ever run on Binghamton’s course for the Division I era women’s 5k, missing the course record by only nine seconds.  The UAlbany women subsequently placed first as a team, with five runners placing ninth or better.

The UAlbany men’s and women’s will next travel to Iona on September 21 to compete in the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.  The Danes will return to Binghamton’s course on November 2 for the America East Conference Championship.
