FINAL RESULTS
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – Leading the University at Albany women’s golf team to a fifth-place finish at the second annual St. John’s Invitational, junior Victoria Choi tied for fourth-place individually in the 65-player field.
Choi’s 75 (+3), despite a blustery and stormy opening round, tied for the best performance of the day. In Tuesday’s final round, Choi carded a 78 (+6) to finish with a total of 153 (+9) in the tournament. In the closely competitive field, she finished just three strokes behind the invitational’s champion, Rachel Carpenter (150) from St. John’s.
As a team, the Great Danes totaled 656, taking 10 strokes off their first day score with a 323 on Tuesday. In the 12-team tournament, the hosting Red Storm (617) took the title, while Siena (630) and LIU Brooklyn (634) rounded out the top-three.
Also competing for UAlbany, Sam Schuffenecker improved 10 strokes from day one to two, tying for 22nd overall with a mark of 164. Freshman Paige Fujihara finished with a 168, followed by senior Lisa Agoglia (173) and Rosalee Hearns (174).
Up next, UAlbany will compete in the Rutgers Invitational Oct. 14-15, marking the team’s final fall tournament.
