Colleen Cashman-McSween To Compete In 16th Connecticut Women’s Open

ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany women’s golf coach Colleen Cashman-McSween will compete in the 16th Connecticut Women’s Open held May 27-28 at Wampanoag Country Club in West Hartford, Conn.

The Connecticut Women’s Open Championship is open to amateur and professional female golfers. The event has a rich history of producing champions, and past winners include Liz Janangelo, former LPGA Tour Professional, and Suzy Whaley, PGA and LPGA Professional. The tournament has a $ 5,000 guaranteed prize for the low professional.

Before beginning her coaching career, Colleen played in more than 100 professional golf tournaments as part of the LPGA’s FUTURES Golf Tour. Making the cut in nearly 80 percent of her events, she posted nine top-10 finishes, including winning the 2003 Tampa Bay Next Generation FUTURES Golf Classic. She also had two appearances at the U.S Women’s Open. She played in 2002 at Prairie Dunes in Hutchison, Kan., and again in 2006 at Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I.

Colleen completed her first season at UAlbany this spring. Under her direction, UAlbany placed second at the ECAC Championship and third in the MAAC Championship, marking the Danes’ best finish since becoming an associate member of the conference.

Colleen tees off in West Hartford at 10:20 a.m. on May 27th.

Schedule of Events
Tuesday, May 27 – First Round, 18 Holes Stroke Play
Wednesday, May 28 – Second Round, 18 Holes Stroke Play

The lowest 36-hole total will be declared the champion. In the event of a tie, a hole-by-hole playoff will begin immediately following conclusion of all rounds.
