Daphne Voormolen Named America East Field Hockey Player of the Week
CAMBRIDGE, MASS.- No. 11 UAlbany field hockey’s Daphne Voormolen was named America East’s Player of the Week when the league announced awards on Monday.
Voormolen scored four goals and tallied three assists in a 3-0 week for the Great Danes (8-0). The senior scored two goals and two assists in a 6-0 win against Siena, notched one goal and one assist against Lafayette on the road and scored one goal against Lehigh.
Voormolen has now scored 40 goals in her career. With her two goals against Siena she passed Christina Patrick and Michelle Simpson on the all-time career scoring list to rank third. The forward needs two more goals to pass UAlbany Hall of Fame member Amy Di Micco, who was inducted in 2012.
The senior is the fourth Great Dane to earn America East weekly honors this season.
UAlbany returns to Alumni Field on Friday, Sept. 27 to face Sacred Heart at 3 p.m.
