FaceVsion TouchCam N1

 TouchCam N1
By: FaceVsion

FaceVsion is a leading engineer in high definition video
communication systems, providing “bridges” between both public and
private
networks. FaceVsion keeps the world connected through personal computer
cameras, their line of FVFones, and FV Express; a 30fps HD video quality
camera
capable of real time encoding and decoding. With these lines of
communication
devices they are sure to go above and beyond their goal.

The FaceVsion TouchCam N1 is a call to the consumer based
public in search of quality HD video cameras that are easy to use and
accessible. The TouchCam N1 provides greater possibilities to the aging
Instant
Messaging platform as well as geared towards Google Talk and the ever
popular
Skype. The N1 in particular is Skype certified giving you the ability to
explore the features available e.g. sharing files, sending video,
instant
messages, voice calls, etc. The N1 is certified for Skype Version 4.2.

Specifically, the TouchCam is an HD VideoCam equipped with
an imbedded H.264 codec chip that’s the driving force behind the
advanced
coding/decoding of video technology. These are designed for
high-definition
video transmissions and broadcasting. This provides for the TouchCam’s
720p
video chat and 1280 x 800 pixel performance. The camera is also equipped
with a
unidirectional dual microphone, capable of only receiving audio waves
from a
direct path. This makes a significant difference in voice quality
compared to
cameras with omnidirectional microphones. Sound quality is noticeably
different
but fortunately doesn’t have a “drowning out” effect typical of most
computer
cameras with unidirectional microphones. Omnidirectional microphones are
consistently better protected i.e. shelf and performance life is
considerably
longer. Similarily, the N1 camera has auto focus with a 78 degree wide
angle. Users
are no longer confined to a box but rather a panoramic perspective that
makes
video chatting more enjoyable.

The TouchCam N1 is USB based compared to FVexpress, geared
towards a more professional market. The N1’s integration of a USB lets
the
public consumers have their share of video communication as USB ports
come
standard with computers. On the other hand, the FVexpress which
incorporates
the TouchCam L1, uses an ExpressCard path giving users a full of range
of
improved features but isn’t as accessible to the public. Likewise, the
TouchCam
line is currently incapable of supporting Mac format for Apple users.

Physically speaking, the TouchCam N1 is equipped a
collapsible stand, either to hook on to the top of your computer or
placed on
the desk. Near the lens is a white LED light displaying an on/off
functionality. The N1 comes with a 150cm USB cable and a unit weight of
90g.

Overall, the FaceVsion TouchCam N1 is the perfect video
camera for those dedicated to streaming content and keeping in touch
with
others. Currently the purchase locations are TBA but the cost of the NI
is
around $119.
