FakeTV

If you’re looking for a cost effective way to defend your home against burglaries, the FakeTV seems like something you should look into. The FakeTV gives would be robbers the impression that someone is awake watching television even if you’re really sleeping, on vacation, or just away for the night. It gives off the light equivalent to a 27 inch TV set. For ease of use it has a light sensor so the device turns on when the room goes dark so you don’t have to worry about setting up any complicated timers, however it will work if you hook it up to a timer in the event you want the device on at specific times.
When used correctly, the FakeTV gives a very believable impression that a TV is on and someone is home watching. Lights brighten and dim in random gradual or abrupt changes giving the effect of action in the program that’s playing or the abrupt changes in light that come with commercials. The one thing you have to be careful about is the placement of the FakeTV. It needs to be placed in a section of the room that the actual device can’t be viewed from, while still allowing the light it emits to be visible. The ideal circumstances for this would be in a second story room where you can’t look directly into the room, but the best way to do it is to test it yourself from outside and see if it looks believable.
The FakeTV is good for almost anyone who needs an added layer of protection in their home. Not only is it relatively inexpensive, it will not run up your electric bill like leaving a normal TV on would because it uses about as much energy as a night light. It’s easy to use and has straight forward instructions. The FakeTV is a great product to keep in mind if you’re worried about the safety of your home.

i placed it on a desk in a second floor bedroom facing the window. directly below is a den where an actual televison was on. no lights were on in either room and it was completely dark outside.
initially i couldn’t tell the difference, so i examined closer. looking for signs to expose the deception and could not find any. it was as if both rooms had televisions running. model ftf-10 comes with an internal light sensor and two setting. “dusk +7” can be used when the sun sets on the early side and “dusk+4” is better during the summer when the sun sets a little later. A timer can also be used to duplicate your personal television viewing habits.

I bought on of these for my son, who moved out to a “questionable” (bad, in my view!) neighborhood. It’s a great deterrent and a whole lot cheaper than an alarm system. We have them for our home and vacation home, and they work great. Amazing how much it makes you think somebody MUST be home!
thank you for your thoughts! We actually used this bad boy in our dorm room
