Field Hockey Adds German Standout to 2014 Recruiting Class
ALBANY, N.Y.- University at Albany field hockey head coach Phil Sykes announced Pahila Arnold has committed to join the Great Danes this fall. Arnold hails from Berlin, Germany and travels to Albany with an impressive resume of international experience.
“We are extremely excited to have Pahila joining us,” said Sykes. “She is a very skillful player who will add a lot to our forward line. In watching Pahila play, you can really see the joy she has for the game. I think this type of attitude will add a great deal to our team.”
Arnold has represented Germany on the Under-16 National Team, and played her club hockey with the Berlin Hockey Club. Historically one of the top club teams in Germany, Arnold has earned four Berlin, three East, three Northeast and two German championship titles.
One of seven children in a field hockey family, Arnold’s older brother Pilt earned a gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics as part of the German National Team. Her sister Inken also plays for Berlin HC.
Arnold joins Paula Heuser and Maxi Primus to become the third German on the Great Dane squad.
