Fujihara Leads Women’s Golf At Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. – The University at Albany women’s golf team shaved 17 strokes off its opening round score to finish in ninth-place Sunday at the Dartmouth Invitational. The Great Danes shot 337 in Saturday’s first round and 320 on day two, led by freshman Paige Fujihara’s 76 (+4).

The annual two-day 36-hole event was played at the par-72, 5,846 yard Hanover Country Club. Yale (575), Boston University (598), and host Dartmouth (615) took the top three finishes in the 11-team field. Brown University and Siena College rounded out the top five, both finishing with a score of 657.

Individually, Fujiharra placed 22nd among the field of 63 with a score of 158 (+14). Like Fujiharra, teammate Sam Schuffenecker improved her game by six strokes from day one (83) to the final round (77), tying for 26th place with a score of 160 (+16). Also contributing to UAlbany’s total, Victoria Choi (85/83) and Lisa Agoglia (87/84) placed 43rd and 49th, respectively.

The Invitational marked the first under newly appointed head coach Colleen Cashman-McSween.

The Great Danes return to action Sunday, hosting Siena for a dual match at Albany Country Club before taking part in the ECAC Championships, Sept. 29-30th at Twisted Dune Country Club in Harbor Township, New Jersey.
