Often in large corporations, employees are issued ID cards with their full name, specialty and even in some cases access codes. Identification cards offer large corporations a way to keep their staff organized and in the know. Rather than searching for someone from sales, all it takes is a look at an ID badge. The company can also limit where employees go with magnetic coding on the back of the card (by swiping their ID card to open a door).

The machinery required to produce these organizational devices is expensive and can run up to several thousands dollars. However, the GBC HeatSeal H110 along with it’s brigade of accessories gives the small business owner a chance to have the same level of organization among their staff as larger corporations- at the not so large price. For less than $100, a business owner could purchase the GBC HeatSeal H110 and enough cards to produce identification cards for their whole staff.

The laminator is very straight forward, simply plug it in, wait for it to heat up and it will alert you when it’s ready. Then simply choose the type of lamination desired; hot or cool and the device does the rest. Able to take cards as big as 4.5”, certainly this is big enough to laminate ID badges, as well as booklets, luggage tags, name tags and business cards.

The only specification that caught me off guard, was that on the box itself it states to "not to use a carrier when laminating documents using this machine." On other machines usually the manufacturer recommend the use of a carrier to prevent lamination material from building up on the inside of the machine. However, having dealt with GBC in the past, I know they stand behind their products. The machine comes with a one year warranty, if for any reason the machine fails, usually GBC will replace the product without straining the life from you.

For the price, the GBC HeatSeal H110 is a great lamintor for the beginner-laminator. The only reasons why I would not consider it if I wanted a more professional appearance, as some units allow you to change the amount of heat or amount of time to spend laminating to get the desired results. The HeatSeal is very simple to use, along with GBCs group of useful accessories (also prepackaged in what they call "Badgemates") can make any office have that high class look.

If you ever forget my name, look at my ID.
