No one likes watching the battery on their iPod dwindle
three hours into a six hour vacation. Then the music or movie shuts off and you
get that uneasy feeling in your stomach, knowing that that you are going to
suffer from boredom for the next three hours. Luckily, iPWR has taken into
consideration all those who have had similar problems and offers a great
resolution. The iPWR is an external battery pack designed for the iPhone
series, but is also compatible with the iPod touch, nano 3rd and 4th
generation, video, and classic. Its simple and easy to use, just plug the
device into the computer via a USB cable to charge the unit. It took about 2 ½
hours for a full charge during the first use, with the LED light on the front
signaling when it completed the charge. The unit completely recharged my iPod
touch, doubling the life of it.
The iPWR on the iPhone or iPod promises 40
hours of extended music and talk time and 10 hours of extended video and
internet, which I found to be fairly accurate. The best feature of the device
is its slim and compact shape, which for an external battery is the most
important aspect. I could still fit my iPod touch, battery, and all into my
pocket with no discomfort or fear that it was going to break. The only drawbacks
of the iPWR are the lack of a battery charge indicator and the detachable
cover. The cover is a little stubborn to get off, but does ensure better
protection for the mini USB port and on/off switch. The iPWR is a great device
and definitely something of a necessity in this day and age. It would make for
a great Christmas gift coming in at an inexpensive 50 dollars.
