Limitless music, no restrictions: Spotify Premium

Spotify Premium

Spotify’s debut about a year ago in the U.S. has been a big hit with music fans.  It provides access to almost any song you can think of, and all you need to get started is an internet connection, to download the Spotify program, and have to deal with the occasional commercial.  That is unless you have the Spotify premium membership.

With both the free and premium Spotify memberships, you can search for songs, make playlists, and sync with music that is already on your computer.  The interface is very similar to iTunes, so there is minimal change between the two programs that users have to adjust to.  The major downsides associated with a free membership however are the commercials and having to be connected to the internet in order to listen to any music you don’t have in your own collection.  Getting premium eliminates pesky commercials which can often be mood killers or distractions if you’re throwing a party or studying.  You can also download your playlists to your computer so you can listen to them anytime, even when you don’t have an internet connection.  And perhaps the best part of Spotify Premium is that you have access to the Spotify app so that you can listen anywhere on your smartphone.

If you haven’t tried out Spotify yet, you’re really missing out. Give the free membership a test run and you’ll be hooked.  For about the same price as one album download from iTunes, the premium membership gives you access to a seemingly limitless amount of songs for only 9.99/month.
