Lyle Thompson Earns Third America East Player of the Week Honor this Season
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After earning 18 points and leading the Great Danes to a pair of wins, Lyle Thompson earned Co-America East Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
This is Lyle Thompson’s third America East Player of the Week honor and sixth of his career. As a team, UAlbany has earned the America East Player of the Week honor seven times this season, including the last three weeks, with Miles Thompson earning the other four.
UAlbany wrapped up the regular season with a pair of dominant home wins, defeating crosstown rival Siena 19-11, then taking down Binghamton 21-7 to secure its second straight America East season.
The junior attackman earned six goals and two assists in the win over Siena, following up with six goals and four assists in the victory over Binghamton to tally 18 points on the week.
He is just two points away from 100 points on the year, on the cusp of being the first DI player to earn 100 points in two separate seasons. He leads all of Division I with seven points per game, totaling 37 goals and 61 assists.
Lyle Thompson shared Co-America East Player of the Week with Phil Poe of UMBC.
The Great Danes prepare to take on Stony Brook on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinals of the America East Tournament.
