Martin, Parker Capture Final America East Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

 

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – Senior midfielder Ariana Parker and freshman attack Sarah Martin garnered America East weekly awards on Monday following UAlbany’s 19-5 win at New Hampshire last Saturday. Parker was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Martin earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Parker matched a career high with seven points in the win at UNH. The midfielder scored three goals to go with four assists. She also won three draws and picked up two ground balls to propel UAlbany to a share of the league regular season title. Parker recorded five points or more for the fifth time this season, and scored multiple goals for the third straight game. The senior went 3-for-4 shooting and has now tallied 50 points this season. She ranks third in UAlbany program history with 144 career goals and 181 points.

Martin earned Rookie of the Week honors for the first time this season after scoring two goals and tallying one assist against the Wildcats. The freshman has recorded at least one point in all of UAlbany’s league games this season. The win at New Hampshire marked her second straight game with two goals or more. Martin also took three draw controls.

The America East Women’s Lacrosse Tournament kicks off on Friday from LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y. The Great Danes enter the tournament as the two seed and will face Vermont in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m.
