Matt Gallup Named America East Co-Pitcher Of The Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University at Albany junior Matt Gallup has been named the America East Co-Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday. Gallup shared the honor with Hartford pitcher Sean Newcomb, becoming the first UAlbany player to earn a weekly award this spring.

Gallup piloted UAlbany to a conference series win over UMBC, picking up a save in the Danes’ 9-7 nightcap win on Saturday, as well as earned the win on UAlbany’s 6-4 rubbermatch victory. Gallup tossed the final frame in UAlbany’s first win of the weekend, holding the Retrievers scoreless with a strikeout. On Sunday, Gallup threw the last three scoreless innings, scattering just two hits, while striking out three and earning the win.

UAlbany continues its conference schedule this weekend, traveling to take on Stony Brook in a three game series.
