Men’s Soccer Hits the Road for Mid-Week Match at Iona
UALBANY SEASON STATS
ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany men’s soccer travels to New Rochelle, N.Y., on Tuesday for a nonconference match-up slated to begin at 3 p.m. UAlbany leads the all-time series 2-0-1. The last meeting in 2006 concluded with a 0-0 tie.
The Great Danes enter the game against the Gaels looking for their first win. UAlbany tied Lehigh 0-0 in rainy conditions at the College Park facility on the Union College campus on Saturday.
SCOUTING IONA
Iona (1-1-1) won its first game 3-0 on Friday at Harvard. Senior captains Franklin Castellanos and Samual Adjei have tallied two goals apiece so far this season. Castellanos is a two-time All-MAAC first team selection, as well as a 2011 NSCAA All-North Atlantic first team honoree. Adjei was also named to the 2011 NSCAA All-North Atlantic first team.
The Gaels were picked to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Poll, with Adjei and Castellanos earning spots on the All-MAAC Preseason squad.
