NEW ORLEANS – In the seventh and final iteration of the 2014 outdoor track poll, the University at Albany men’s and women’s track teams held steady in their respective spots from last week, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday. The men remained seventh in the Northeast, while the women were once again ranked 10th.
Cornell’s commanding lead at the top of the men’s poll remained intact. Buffalo was ranked second, swapping placed with Harvard, who came in at third this week. The remainder of the top five was unchanged, and the men’s poll featured no newcomers.
The women’s top four of Harvard, Connecticut, Dartmouth, and Cornell remained unchanged from last week. Buffalo and Columbia swapped positions from a week ago, coming in at fifth and sixth respectively this week. Vermont jumped two placed to 11th, and was the only other America East team in either the men’s or the women’s polls.
The men’s regional performance list saw three events improved upon over the weekend. Jeremiah Obeng-Agyapong is third in the Northeast in the 400 hurdles, after running 52.02 in IC4A Championships this weekend at Princeton University. The men’s 4×100 relay team improved its time to 40.69, ranking fourth, and the 4×400 relay team improved to 3:11.00, ranking fifth.
