Cell phones need to emit radiation in order to communicate with cell phone towers.  Without radiation, your phone wouldn’t be able to work.  Just blocking the radiation would solve the health problem with cell phones, but it would also mean you would never get any cell reception.  This is where the Pong case comes in.  Rather than try to find a way to block radiation, they instead redirect the radiation with a series of antennas built into the case itself.  These antennas attract the radiation and direct it out the back of the case and away from your head.  This decreases the amount of radiation you are exposed to by about 2/3.  This technique also doesn’t harm cell phone reception because the radiation your phone emits isn’t being blocked only redirected.

When I used the Pong case, I didn’t notice any drop in reception.  The case wasn’t bulky and I forgot it was even there after a while.  The physical protection to your phone that the Pong case provides is average.  The case really doesn’t give you much more protection that a 10 dollar case off amazon would.  The thing that makes this case worth $49.99 is the radiation protection it provides.  If cell phone usage does in fact contribute to cancer, the health bills that you can avoid by using a Pong case may easily end up justifying its cost.
