Samsung GO N310 for AT&T

Samsung GO N310 for AT&T
By Samsung & AT&T

The problems we tend to see with most commercial netbooks
are that the quality and capabilities are boiled down to the bare essentials or
lack there of. These bare essentials may mean less than 1GB of RAM with a
Z-Series Intel Atom processor and a miniscule 120 GB hard drive.  Just because it’s a “small laptop” doesn’t
mean it should have small features.
Luckily, the Samsung GO N310 has resolved some of those problems with a
great design and capabilities to match.

As far as appearance and design, this is the perfect netbook
for those jetsetters who don’t need a bulky laptop and who want the peace of
mind that it is not going to “break” at any given moment while inside their
backpack. The N310 comes in a variety of colors including sunset orange,
midnight blue, jet black, and mint blue. These vibrant colors in many ways
complement the smooth clamshell case that closes to reveal a sturdy build and
great protective seal. There is also an integrated 1.3 MP camera which serves
its purpose. The unit weighs around 3 lbs with a 10.1” screen that fits
perfectly with its 10.31” x 7.26” x 1.1” dimension. The N310 is wide screen
with an LED display potential of 1024×600. No space is left wasted on this
netbook with a form fitting keyboard and large sized touchpad. The keyboard is
surprisingly comfortable with wide spaced keys and large sized font. The
touchpad on the other hand, although performs its job, would have been that
much better with dual integrated left and right mouse click. That little left
and right mouse click feature would have made a big improvement to the netbook.
The N310 also has an array of ports, jacks, and connections including audio, video,
USB ports and an SD card reader as well as a networking connection for
Ethernet, Bluetooth, etc. Likewise, the N310 is both Bluetooth compatible and
works on AT&T’s wireless 3G network which will cost around $35.00 – $60.00
depending on what plan you choose. I would recommend the 5GB plan, you save
more money in the long run and the bandwidth will give you more freedom on high
activity websites.

The GO N310 is equipped with an Intel Atom N270 processor and
1 GB hard drive. Although the N270 processor nowadays is fairly standard for
higher end netbooks, it still provides great processing speed and can handle
music and video with ease.  On the other
hand, I would have liked to see a larger hard drive if the price of the N310 wants
to compete with those of 2 GB max hard drive netbooks. However, it can always
be upgraded but still doesn’t reflect in the price. One aspect that I was very
pleased to see on the N310 was the battery life. What makes a netbook a good
netbook is a long battery life even when playing a game or watching a video.
The netbook runs on a high capacity 6 cell, 8850mAh battery which ran for a
little less than 8.5 hours on moderate play. On vigorous play, such as playing
a game or watching a video for the entirety of its battery life, you can expect
about 5.5 hours, which is still very good.

The netbook runs on Genuine Windows XP Home operating system
and is compatible with the new Windows 7. All you need to do is a simple
upgrade and you are ready to go. Likewise, the preinstalled software on the netbook
makes for a much easier experience and is as follows:

                        Magic
Keyboard                     Easy Display
Manager

Easy
Network Manager       Easy SpeedUp Manager
                        Samsung
Magic Doctor          Samsung Update Plus
                        Recovery
Solutions III           Easy Battery
Manager
                        Easy
Resolution Manager       Battery Life
Extender
                        Adobe
Acrobat Reader 8        Cyberlink YouCam
                        McAfee
Internet Security 9.0 (60 day trial)

Overall the Samsung GO N310 is a great netbook with great
features, but with a retail price of $400.00, it doesn’t stack up. If you can
find the N310 for $200.00 – $300.00 that’s more than a fair price and I
guarantee you will be satisfied.
