Shereesha Richards Earns Fourth America East Weekly Honor

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Shereesha Richards continues to pick up hardware this season, earning her fourth America East weekly honor, being named the league Co-Player of the Week for the period ending December 8th.

This is Richards’s fourth Player of the Week honor this season in five chances, making her the first player in UAlbany DI history to earn four conference Player of the Week honors in a season.  She is just one Player of the Week honor away from tying Ebone Henry and Danielle Hutcheson for most America East Player of the Week honors in UAlbany history.

In her career, she has 11 weekly awards, including seven Rookie of the Week honors last season.

The sophomore forward had another career day this past week, shooting 83.3% from the field in a road victory over Dartmouth.  She earned a career-best 32 points, tied for ninth all-time in UAlbany history in a single game, with 12 rebounds for her third double double of the season.

This season, Richards continues to dominate her games, earning at least 19 points in each of her last six contests.  She leads the America East in scoring with 23.9 points per game, rebounding with 9.9 boards a contest and field goal percentage at 69.6%.

Richards shared the weekly honor with Stony Brook’s Sable Proctor, who had a pair of double doubles for the Seawolves this week.

Richards and the Great Danes will take on NJIT tomorrow at 7 p.m. in New Jersey.
