Snow Named Softball Rookie Of The Week

America East Release

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second time this season, freshman catcher Elizabeth Snow has been named America East Softball Rookie of the Week by the conference offices.  Snow previously won in Week 2, way back on February 25, for her efforts during the opening preseason tournament, the Citrus Classic.  This week, she shares the award with UMBC’s Danielle O’Neill, who was named Player of the Week, and Co-Pitchers of the Week Alexis Bogdanovich from Maine and Allison Cukrov from Stony Brook.

The University at Albany played seven games last week.  Snow started all seven at catcher.  She ended the week batting .364 (8-22) with four runs scores, one double, two RBIs, three walks and one strikeout.  Her best game at the plate came against Hartford, in the second game of the opening doubleheader.  Snow hit 1-3 with a walk and scored three runs, helping UAlbany defeat the Hawks 11-1.

Snow’s second award is also UAlbany’s fourth for the season so far.  Vicky McFarland was named Week 4 Player of the Week, and Brittany MacFawn was named Week 7 Pitcher of the Week.  UAlbany plays a doubleheader at Cornell on Wednesday, April 16 starting at 3:00 p.m.   The Colgate doubleheader, originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed until Tuesday, April 22.
