U.S. Special Forces Member, UAlbany Lacrosse Alum Aaron Eleby Featured by Inside Lacrosse
After leading UAlbany to its first-ever America East title, Aaron Eleby has been serving as a member of the United States Special Forces in Afghanistan.
Inside Lacrosse’s Casey Vock did a heartwarming story on Eleby and a recent donation of lacrosse sticks to Eleby’s Special Forces unit by UAlbany lacrosse alumni Cort and Blake Kim. The piece talked about Eleby’s life from his days at Nazareth, transferring to UAlbany, trying out amd making the lacrosse team and how it turned his life around.
Eleby played for Scott Marr’s Great Danes near the start of the DI program at UAlbany, helping the team win the school’s first America East lacrosse title in 2002.
“No matter what nickname I hear about Special Forces guys, whether it’s ‘Green Berets’ or ‘SnakeEaters,’ the one that always stood out to me was ‘The Brotherhood,’” Eleby told Vock in the story. “The only other time I have felt a bond this close to anyone outside of my family was at UAlbany.”
