UAlbany Alum Dave Brock Selected to 2014 Team Canada Training Roster

OTTAWA, Ontario – Former Great Dane Dave Brock has been selected to the 2014 Team Canada Training Roster, the Canadian Lacrosse Association announced on Monday.

51 players were chosen from 97 applicants by a committee of coaches, including college, professional and national team coaches.  The camp will take place from October 11-14th in Buffalo on the campus of Canisius College, run by Team Canada head coach Randy Mearns.  Before the camp, the team will compete in a series of scrimmages against NCAA teams.

“In my experience with the national program, I think it is safe to say that this is the deepest, most qualified group of Canadian Field Lacrosse players trying to earn a spot to represent Canada in the World Championships next July,” says Mearns about the selected players.

After two years at Herkimer, Brock transferred to UAlbany for the 2009 and 2010 seasons.  As a senior, Brock earned All-America East honors after leading the Great Danes with 34 goals and scooping up 37 ground balls.  That season he ranked 39th in DI with 2.13 goals per game.

Following the 2010 season, Brock was drafted seventh overall into the National Lacrosse League by the Boston Blazers.  He currently is with the Buffalo Bandits along with fellow UAlbany alum Joe Resetarits.

If selected to the team, Brock will be with Team Canada at the Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships in Denver from July 10-19, 2014.
