UAlbany Athletes Make Strides Against Breast Cancer

ALBANY, N.Y. – Nearly 100 University at Albany student-athletes supported the fight against breast cancer Sunday, taking part in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Albany’s Washington Park.

Great Dane athletes, including members of the baseball, men’s basketball, track and field, and cheer and dance teams spent the afternoon with approximately 15,000 fellow supporters.

The walk honored those who have battled breast cancer, raised awareness of ways to reduce breast cancer risk, and raised money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with research, information and services, and access to mammograms for women who need them.

Organizers estimated the Albany event raised nearly $ 1 million.
