UAlbany Men Compete in America East Pre-Conference Meet

VESTAL, N.Y. University at Albany men’s cross country traveled to Binghamton this weekend to compete in the America East Pre-Conference meet.  As a team, the Danes finished in fourth place out of five schools.

At the end of the 8k course, junior Christopher Buchanan was the top finisher for UAlbany, placing sixth in a field of 81 runners with a time of 25:47.1.  Buchanan was the only UAlbany athlete to finish in the top ten.

Junior John DeLallo was the next Dane to finish after Buchanan, placing 17th overall with a time of 26:17.1.  Sophomore James Sommer followed DeLallo in 34th place, running 26:48.4.  Junior Andrew Pirnie and senior Dylan Lowry were the last two scoring athletes for UAlbany, placing 35th and 38th overall with times of 26:49.9 and 26:53.8, respectively.  Rounding out UAlbany top seven finishers were sophomore Jonathan Moore, who finished 41st in 26:56.7, and sophomore Raymond Farinella, who finished 46th with a time of 27:06.2.

Finishing outside the top seven for the team were junior Peter Schweitzer (53rd, 27:31.3), junior Zachary Cook (60th, 27:57.9), freshman Conner Farrell (63rd, 28:08.2), senior Youness Benzaid (72nd, 28:32.6), and junior Eric Billinson (81st, 30:03.7).

UAlbany scored 104 points to earn their fourth place finish behind UMBC, Binghamton and Vermont, and ahead of UMass Lowell.  UMBC narrowly defeated Binghamton, scoring 31 points to Binghamton’s 37.  Vermont scored 89 points in third place and UMass Lowell scored 105 points in fifth place.

UAlbany has a week off before they visit Iona on September 21 to compete in the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
