UAlbany Travels Up and Down America East for Pair of Games

DURHAM, N.H. – The UAlbany women’s soccer team will play a pair of road games this week, going north to face New Hampshire on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., then south to play UMBC on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Each game will be broadcast online on AmericaEast.tv. Thursday’s game will be at Bremner Field in Durham, while Sunday’s game will take place at the Retriever Soccer Park in Baltimore.
The Great Danes are looking for their first conference win, coming off a 3-1 defeat to Hartford. Caitlyn Paltsios scored her first goal of the season in the fifth minute of that contest.
UAlbany suffered a heartbreaking loss to UNH last season, as a Meghan Ledwith goal with 12 seconds left gave the Wildcats a 1-0 win. UNH leads the overall series 9-4.
New Hampshire stands at 2-5-3, getting draws in its last two contests against Holy Cross and Binghamton, the latter being in the AE opener. Sophomore middie Kirsten O’Neil is the leading point scorer, having a goal and an assist. Two players have split time in goal: freshman Mimi Borkan has a 87.8% save rate and 0.81 GAA, while senior Erica Correa has a 1.77 GAA and 71.4% save percentage.
Last time against UMBC, Shayla Bergeron earned a hat trick on Senior Day to push UAlbany to a 4-1 victory, evening the overall series with the Retrievers at 5-5.
UMBC comes into the week at 5-4-2 having fallen in its last two games, the last being a 2-1 defeat in its AE opener against Maine. Redshirt junior forward Jessy Brown has three goals this season, while fellow junior middie Lilly Rydon has a pair of goals and assists. Playing every minute in goal this season is senior Lauren Kadet, who has a 0.94 GAA and 78.4% save percentage.
