UAlbany WBB Goes For Perfect America East Season on Saturday’s Senior Day

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Great Danes look to earn a second-straight perfect America East season, hosting Stony Brook at the SEFCU Arena on Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m. in UAlbany’s final regular season game.

Tickets for the game are $ 10 for chairback seats, $ 5 for reserved adult seating and $ 2 for kids and seniors.  Faculty and staff may get a ticket free with a ticket purchase, and students enter free with a university ID.

UAlbany won the outright America East regular season title, its second-straight, after defeating UNH 60-47 on the road on Wednesday for its 16th-consecutive victory. The Great Danes stand at 25-3 overall and 15-0 in the America East going into Saturday. Stony Brook is tied for second in the conference at 12-3 and 21-7 overall, earning a 66-57 win over Vermont at home on Wednesday to increase its winning streak to six.

It will be the final regular season home game for UAlbany senior guard Tammy Phillip, who will be honored for a Senior Day ceremony after the game.  In addition, there will be a presentation for UAlbany to honor the America East regular season championship.

UAlbany has been second to none in the America East the last three years, winning its last 38 conference games, the longest current conference winning streak in Division I and the longest in America East history, surpassing Maine’s streak of 37-straight from 1995 to 1997.

Having won the last eight meetings, UAlbany leads the all-time series 27-21. The Great Danes used a 52-point second half to defeat the Seawolves 66-51 on Long Island on January 30.

Shereesha Richards leads the conference with 20.6 points a game, scoring double digits in 27 games. Megan Craig, including 131 points combined her last seven games, has risen to eighth in the conference at 12.6 points a contest. Sarah Royals is averaging 11.4 points a contest to stand 13th in the league. UAlbany is #1 in the America East in numerous categories, including scoring with 72.5 points a game, scoring margin at +18.0 and field goal percentage at 47.4%.

Stony Brook is currently tied for second place in the America East with New Hampshire and has achieved its largest single season win total in the program’s Division I history.  Junior forward Sabre Proctor stands second in the America East in scoring with 15.3 points a game, shooting 48.1% from the field. Averaging 11.8 points a contest, senior guard Chikilra Goodman is the league top thief and rebounder with 2.6 steals and 7.5 rebounds a game. Jessica Ogunnorin has 16 blocks, getting 8.5 points and 7.4 rebounds a contest.
