UAlbany WBB Travels to Baltimore to Take on UMBC on Tuesday

BALTIMORE – The Great Danes will play its next two games on the road, first going to Baltimore to play UMBC at the RAC Arena on Tuesday, February 11th at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the game are eight dollars for adults and six dollars for seniors and non-UMBC students.

UAlbany has won 12-straight games, including its first 11 America East contests, last playing on Friday in a 90-68 victory over Hartford to finish a three-game homestand, coming into Tuesday at 21-3 overall.  UMBC has fallen in 10 straight games after winning its first conference contest, coming off a 59-51 loss to UMass Lowell on Saturday, to enter the game at 2-21 overall and 1-10 in the conference.

UAlbany has taken the last six meetings with UMBC to lead the all-time series 13-9, last winning a 65-39 home contest against the Retrievers at home of January 28th.

Leading the way for UAlbany is Shereesha Richards, the America East leader in points per game with 21.5, rebounds a game at 9.5 and field goal percentage at 62.9%.  A strong player for UAlbany the last four games, including a trio of double-doubles, has been Megan Craig, who is now 10th in the league with 12 points a game.  Also with 12 points a game is Sarah Royals, UAlbany’s DI leader in assists and the conference leader with 4.9 assists per game.

The Retrievers are currently tied with Binghamton for eighth place in the America East.  Of the UMBC roster, no seniors have played yet this year, and the team includes seven freshmen and two sophomores.  One of the top newcomers to the conference, freshman forward Sara Tarbert is the team’s leader in scoring and rebounding with 13 points and seven boards a game.  Also in the post is sophomore center Bridget O’Donnell, who averages 6.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks a game, while freshman guard Emily Russo runs the floor with 5.6 points and 3.3 assists a contest.
